Ms Seipati Tlaka, former Limpopo Tourism and Parks (LTP) chief operations officer, has been elevated to the Premier’s office as the new provincial 2010 Fifa World Cup coordinator.
Tlaka, who appears relaxed in her third floor office at the Premier’s headquarters during an interview with Informant, said she is undaunted by her new responsibilities because she has been doing the same thing in her previous job. Tlaka has taken over from Mr Pandelani Ramakoma, who has been appointed Public Works MEC. Tlaka goes on to say that during her time with LTP, one of her responsibilities was the repositioning of the LTP into an efficient service delivery entity through the recruitment of more skilled personnel. “Much more has also been achieved in relation to the pursuit of the roadshow programmes we carried out in order to stimulate interest in the tourism sector amongst various communities in this province,” Tlaka says. “This province has also been thrown in the centre of various sporting activities such as the annual Limpopo Soccer Challenge, which started several years ago,” she added. With Tlaka having been in office for barely a month, at the moment she is still analysing existing programmes before she can outline her future plans. She concludes by saying that with cooperation between host city Polokwane and the provincial government, she does not see any possibility of them failing to deliver a successful 2010 Fifa World Cup.
