Polokwane seems to have become a sore sight with rubbish and building rubble scattered on the streets, and vandals taking their toll in various part of the city.

Akademie Street in Bendor is no exception and is filled with rubbish and rubble, rubbish bins in the city’s industrial areas (Industria, Ladine and Superbia) are overflowing, parks are scattered with papers and alcoholic beverage bottles, and the water streams and dams in the city (Tom Naudé, Florapark, Ivypark, Westenburg dams) are extremely filthy.

Vandals are sabotaging various parts of Polokwane.

These vandals are removing street-name boards which angers local residents.

According to Mr Mokone du Preez, Polokwane Chamber of Business (PCOB) safety and security chairperson, these vandals are s

uspected to be schoolchildren and criminals hoping to confuse or delay the police.

Copper thieves are suspected to be the culprits damaging the statues in the Civic Centre Gardens near the Jack Botes Hall.

The PCOB, in conjunction with the municipality, will put in its best efforts to make the city safe and clean again. - Carina Scheepers
