Gr 12s upped their game
There wasn’t a face that didn’t boast a broad smile on Thursday when the Limpopo department of education honoured the province’s top gr. 12 achievers and their schools during an awards ceremony at Bolivia Lodge.
According to the MEC for education, Dickson Masemola the department set a target pass rate of 60% for the year and although they missed it, the actual achieved pass rate of 57,9% is a vast improvement on 2009’s 48,9%.
A total of 94 632 learners enrolled for the examinations, of which 54 809 passed.
For schools with a high enrolment, Pietersburg Hoërskool is the top school in the Capricorn district.
The top school with a low enrolment in the Capricorn district is Taxila Combined School.
The top three schools in the province are Mbilwi Secondary School from Sibaba, Pietersburg Hoërskool (PHS) in second spot and Tshivhase Secondary School third.
The three learners who obtained the highest aggregates in their six best subjects (excluding life orientation) are Brezilda van Tonder from PHS in third place (1 682), Lis Mathew from Capricorn High School in second place (1 688) and the best overall learner is Sandra Tsakane from Dendron Secondary School (1 691).
